Puppy Chow for the Class!

Hey Everyone,
So the quest is over and we had a "party" in class.  I decided to make puppy chow.  I had only made this one other time.  I actually called my little sister to make sure I had the correct ingredients(which I did).  I actually didn't follow the exact measurements of anything.  The ingredients are butter, peanut butter, chocolate chips, powdered sugar, and Chex mix.  You melt the butter (1/4 cup) and the chocolate chips ( I used a whole bag and then I had a 1/2 bag in my cupboard), then you add the cereal (I just started pouring it in stirred it with the choc.mixture until all was covered I added cereal until it looked like all excess chocolate was on the cereal).  I put it all in a Ziploc bag and added the powdered sugar and shook it up!  Very yummy! Once you start eating you can't stop though.

Chicken Casserole And Biscuits!

Hey Everyone,

The quest is over! My last meal of the my quest was actually one of my favorites.  I actually have made this before.  I take Swanson canned chicken and mix it with corn, green beans, shredded cheese, and cream of chicken soup.  I only use these 2 vegetable because I don't like any other veggies.  I baked it for about 20 minutes.  Sometimes I put the biscuits right on top and bake it together but this time I did it separate and just put the casserole over the top kind of like a gravy!! Very yummy!!

this website has a lot great recipes and this is where I got the general idea for this recipe!!!

On The Injured List!

Hey Everyone,
So I have to admit I've slacked on my last few days.  I work at a daycare in a 12-24month classroom.  Really fun but, I don't think people realize how much lifting there is and even though the kids are little-they still can get heavy! I would say Wednesday into Thursday I threw my back out it just was so sore by the weekend all i did was lay on the couch with a heating pad!  So I went ahead and found my recipes and bought the stuff to make it but actually had my boyfriend doing the dirty work.  So I did my cooking from the couch-as he calls out "what do I do next"? We made ribs on Saturday night-smothered in barbecue sauce, mashed potatoes (made with real potatoes-which I never do), green beans and hot rolls(Hy-Vee baker).  Very delicious meal!

On Sunday we made Fried Chicken, had leftover mashed potatoes and we made gravy and had rolls again.  This meal was good I'm just not a big fan of fried chicken I hate eating off the bone!!!

Spaghetti---Garlic Bread!!!

Hey Everyone,
I made spaghetti and garlic bread the other night for my boyfriend and I and he ended working late.  I made a very simple recipe.  I had bought texas toast- so I added garlic powder and a mixture of mozzarella and parmesan cheese to the top.  I browned hamburger.  Next time I think I'm going to use half hamburger and half sausage.  Anyways, I used prego spaghetti sauce and added black olives, mushrooms, and chives to liven it up a bit, I used angel hair pasta.  Some people mix their sauce and noodles together but i like mine separate.  I know this meal is pretty basic it still turned out good.

Pulled Pork Sandwhiches!

Hey Everyone,
I havn't been keeping up on my blogs so here I go.  Last Sunday I made pulled pork sandwiches.  I bought a small pork roast.  I let it cook in the crock pot about 4 hrs until it was real tender.  Then I "pulled" it apart and put it back in the crock pot. I bought a honey barbecue sauce because alot of the recipes I found said to add honey or brown sugar to sweetened up the roast.  I then let it simmer about another hour to soak up the sauce.  I made macaroni and chees also but instead of just using a box I bought plain elbow macaroni and melted the cheese in myself.  This was one of my favorit meals.

Expensive Meals

Hey Everyone,
I found that the cooking part of my quest really isn't that difficult.  Its the money part of it.  Making "homemade" meals is kind of costly.  What I've been trying to do is make one meal and then use part of that meal for a second meal.  Also I've found through actually combing the aisles at the grocery store that there are better frozen meals than pizza and TV dinners.  I bought frozen burritos and sided it with re fried beans and spanish rice.   This meal was fairly inexpensive but was better than JUNK food.  My next recipe I want to try is using crescent rolls and filling them with my own ingredients and making my own kind of "hot pocket".

A twist on Chili!

Hey Guys,
I made chili cheese fries on Friday night.  I'm not really a chili fan but I did enjoy it this way.  I used my fryer and fried up some french fries.  Instead of making a big batch of chili  I cheated and used canned chili.  However if I did make chili this would be a great way to get a second meal out of it.  Anyways, I put the chili on top of the fries and topped it off with shredded cheese.  I put black olives on mine and my boyfriend put jalapenos on his.

The pic on the left is mine with the black olives and the one on the right his my boyfriends with the jalapenos.
